About me

How counselling can help:

Sometimes life’s problems can become overwhelming and you may be feeling anxious, depressed, stressed or uncertain.  You may be struggling to cope with your work, personal or family life. Prioritising your needs and talking to a counsellor who will listen to you with compassion and without judgement can make a real difference.  Whatever you are struggling with or want to focus on,  I am here to help you.

Practice Description:

I am a BACP registered counsellor.  I have experience of working with common mental health problems and with people experiencing challenges in their lives, such as anxiety, depression, relationship breakdowns, loss, bereavement, trauma, and a lack of confidence.  I also work with people who are exploring a spiritual path or who are experiencing difficulties related to spirituality or faith.

I understand that reaching out for therapy can be daunting, and will sometimes require us to step outside of our comfort zone. The counselling session is your time and space to focus on you, and to share and explore your thoughts.  I will provide a supportive, safe, non-judgemental and confidential space to assist you in your exploration.  I will listen to you and help you to think about your thoughts and feelings.  I will walk alongside you with empathy and understanding so that you can consider the present and also reflect on how the past may be impacting on and influencing your life now.

It is important that you work with someone who is the right fit for you. I find that a short discussion on the telephone can help us to decide whether we are going work together.

What to expect at your first session:

Our first session will be our chance to meet and get to know each other. We will discuss safety and confidentiality and I will help to answer any questions or address any worries that you may have.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
