About me
I am a HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist specialising in working with adolescents and young adults with a range of mental health difficulties. I
have specialist training and experience working with anxiety, low mood, eating disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, phobias, emotion dysregulation, and self-harm. I also have specialist experience supporting adolescents and young adults in the context of chronic illness, cancer, and brain injury, focusing on adjustment and adaptation to the challenges people can face.
I believe building a strong therapeutic relationship is one of the most important aspects of supporting people on their journey with mental health. I offer a warm, personable and empathic approach to ensure a trusting and open therapeutic space with the people I work with.
As a Clinical Psychologist, I use formulation to help people make better sense of their difficulties, and use this shared understanding to identify the most appropriate therapeutic approaches, taking into account personal preference alongside the evidence-based recommended treatments. I am trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Systemic (Family) Therapy, and EMDR, and I also feel passionate about using compassion-based approaches in my work.
Training, qualifications & experience
I received a First Class Honours in Psychology (BSc) and a Distinction in Cognitive Neuroscience (MSc) at University College London. I then went on to complete the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Surrey. My doctoral training focused on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Systemic Family Therapy. I am registered as a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council.
I have worked in specialist child and adolescent eating disorder services, paediatric neurorehabilitation, and adolescent and young adult oncology services across the UK and New Zealand.
Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
