About me

Who I am and what I can offer

My name is Shaun and I am a fully qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space for people to discover their way forward in life. I believe that everyone is unique and should be understood and valued as such.

Why is talking to a professional therapist better than just talking to a friend?

As a therapist I can provide, in addition to my experience and knowledge, a very rare and beneficial environment. I can offer you a space to sit and explore anything you would like to about yourself and your private world, in a nonjudgmental and confidential environment. I will treat you positively, regardless of your background or shared material. You will feel, that in this safe space, you can explore what is going on for you without fear of anything you say being repeated elsewhere, or used against you. This environment and safe space to explore and rebuild ourselves is unfortunately very rare in our everyday lives, and that is the beauty of therapy.  As your therapist, I will help you to look at your shared material and help you to really dig down and get to the roots of your problems, and help you to make sense of it all and to move forward in a safe and sustainable way. This will help you to live a more enjoyable life, and will help you to find resilience and clarity. This will mean you will be better equipped to deal with any other issues you may experience in your future.

How I work

I work in an empowering, empathetic and clear way with clients, to help them to find their own way forward. I have a firm belief that each client I see is the ultimate expert on their inner world and how they experience it, therefore I will not just give generalised advice, as in therapy, ‘one size does not fit all’. I will however, listen to my clients, ask them questions and help them to explore their individual experiencing of their world. I will help them to build the tools, understanding and clarity to move forward with their lives. Whether this is in-depth psychotherapy over many sessions, or a few sessions learning some mindfulness, breathwork or meditation exercises, my door is open to everyone.

How to make contact with me

Please do not hesitate to message or call me to book a free 20 minute phone consultation. I will be happy to explain in more detail about how I work, and if I believe what I offer can help you, my phone number is: 07789988554.

From then on, if you choose to, you can book weekly, fortnightly or monthly sessions to work with me in person, on the phone or over the internet. You can then start your own journey of exploration, and begin to find more personal harmony and clarity in your everyday life.

There is no time like the present!

So give me a call or a message and we can set a date for you to sail in, sit down and offload at Calm Harbour.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

About me

I am down to earth, gentle, polite, caring and honest. I am a people person, and have always enjoyed communicating with people from all walks of life.

My own journey

Historically, I have embarked on my own therapeutic journey in order to improve my mental health, which resulted in engaging with Psychotherapy. This was such a worthwhile and life changing experience for me, that I have become qualified myself to help others experience the massive benefits of therapy. I am very open about my life experiences and have found them to be a tremendous source of additional education within the field of counselling and psychotherapy. My own personal experiences, coupled with my professional qualifications, ensure that I am well placed to understand and help other people effectively. I hope that each and every client I see experiences therapy in the life changing way that I did. I do my very best to tailor the approaches I use to suit my clients’ individual needs, and I try to help them reap the benefits of their own therapeutic journey.
