About me

Welcome.

There are different sorts of counselling. Finding the counsellor who is right for you is important.

I am a counsellor based in the north of Norwich, Norfolk. My style of counselling comes from a combination of life and work experience as well as professional training. My specialist background is in acquired brain injury (ABI) issues and further training allows me to work with many different people’s problems. The length of counselling I offer is also suited to your needs – long, medium or short term.

If you have a brain injury you may be thinking counselling is not for you because of the tricky ways your brain is working, e.g. short-term memory loss. Even so, you may still be feeling a need to share things in confidence with a supportive listener, who is neutral and caring.

Whatever your situation, you will be accepted as your own person with your own beliefs and perspectives – your own voice. You will be able to lay out your problems and be supported by the experience of an honest, open and non-judgemental relationship.

If you feel stuck, if changes you try to make don’t stay changed, if you’re overwhelmed with confusion and mixed emotions, counselling offers you the opportunity to explore your issues at your own pace, honing in on the roots of things, gain insights and understanding in ways everyday life has no time for.

Finding an inner resourcefulness can help you sense ways of going ahead, to set your goals that are right for you.

A first Session

This session is very important – our time to get to know each other and how well we can work to resolve your distress. At first, your aims may not be specific. The first session is also the chance to define your goals for coming to counselling. Any questions or concerns you might be having about counselling can also be aired, ensuring you get the most from this initial meeting.

If you feel you would like to work with me we can then agree the times, frequency and number of future sessions that most suit your needs. Flexibility is another important aspect. In long-term agreements I use every sixth session to review with clients their chosen number of sessions, making sure I work to every client’s best interest.

Contact

If you would like to book a first session with me, please feel free to call on 0777 552 0302.

I may be unable to answer my phone between 9am and 4pm, but if you leave a message I will get back to you on the evening of your call. Or you can email me via here or my website or blog, "Neurolations - Talking Therapies and Brain Injuries".

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
