You will be greeted with a warm and professional approach if you choose me to be your Person-Centred therapist, and above all you will be listened to in a confidential, non-judgmental manner. I will try my best to understand you and give you the honest and empathic support that you deserve.
When you choose to work with me at my cosy summerhouse therapy room, you won't be talked down to by an 'expert' and given prescriptive instructions on what's best for your life. You are the 'expert' on your life, and only you know what feels best for you. What I will do is provide you with a safe space where I can gently challenge you as you work through your issues and build your confidence and self-esteem. Metaphorically I will be right beside you on your journey, supporting you as you process your experiences and feelings.
Person-centred therapy puts you in control and gives you the opportunity to examine your beliefs, views and life experiences, which will ultimately lead to a greater sense of self-awareness. For further information you can take a look at https://www.bacp.co.uk/about-therapy/types-of-therapy/person-centred-counselling/
Therapy isn’t always an easy ride and is certainly not a quick fix solution, in fact it can be a bit of an emotional rollercoaster at times, but if you feel ready to do the work and you're open to a journey of self-discovery, then please continue to read my information, and don't hesitate to contact me. I ask that you do read my profile in full, so that you are fully aware of my theoretical approach, my fees, experience, and the therapy room that I use before attending an assessment.
Thank you for taking the time to read my profile, and I'll look forward to hearing from you.
All the best,
Training, qualifications & experience
My qualifications and experience:
Qualified in 2016, my experience lies predominantly in working therapeutically with survivors of childhood sexual abuse and their family members. I am very aware of the devastating impact and ripple effect that this type of trauma can have on a person's life. I have worked with survivors of all ages and genders, from 18 to 80, and I have never failed to be awe-inspired by watching these often fragile clients make the transition from 'victim' to 'survivor'.
I have also previously worked as an Early Years Practitioner in Kirklees, a Family Support Worker in Bradford, a Mental Health Support Worker in Kirklees, and I have even owned and ran my own community cafe providing special interest groups for socially isolated people in my local area. Listening, caring and supporting really are my passions in life.
I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, along with Level 2 and 3 certificates in Counselling, and I am currently working towards a BSc Honours degree in Psychology and Counselling. I am also a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
- Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
- Certificate of Higher Education (Open University)
- Level 3 Counselling Skills
- Level 2 Counselling Concepts
- BACP Certificate of Proficiency
- Level 3 Certificate Work with Parents
- NVQ Level 3 Children’s Care, Learning and Development

Some of my continuous professional development learning has included:

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
£40.00 per session
Free initial in-person session
- Your initial 30 minute assessment session is currently FREE.
- Each therapy session thereafter is £40.
When I work
Flexible appointment times between Mon-Weds 8am-5pm.
*Early Saturday morning sessions can be arranged on a discretionary basis, or a Tuesday or Thursday evening from 5pm.
I currently offer a FREE initial 30 minute assessment session so that we can meet each other and go over some of the broader issues that bring you to therapy. This is not a counselling session, but rather a chance to meet, and to take some personal contact details.
If you feel that you don’t gel with me we can part ways and I will wish you all the very best, you are not wasting my time. It is important that you feel comfortable with me in the therapeutic relationship, and equally, it is important that I feel I am able to work with your issues within my professional capabilities. If I don’t think I can help you, we can talk about alternatives, and I can signpost you to other counsellors or agencies that can.
The Therapy Room
Your therapy will take place in the warm, cosy, non-clinical surroundings of my garden summerhouse, surrounded by nature and some of my travel artefacts. A short video is available to view on the Park Counselling Facebook page.
There is off-street parking available, and the therapy room is also within a short walking distance of regular bus routes (details can be given before attending for an initial assessment).
My private practice currently focuses on working with adult clients over the age of 18.
