About me

As an integrative counsellor I draw from different psychotherapy traditions to offer a well-rounded approach that can be tailored to your specific needs. I am influenced by psychodynamic, humanistic, person-centred, body psychotherapy and attachment theories.

There are many roads to making contact with a counsellor. You may have difficult decisions to make and want a listening space in which to explore your options. You may have the nagging sense that there is more to life than the way you are living it and want to fulfil your potential. You may be in real pain and need someone to talk to. There is no right way to approach counselling.

I offer a warm, safe and confidential space where we can work together to uncover what you need and help you to get more from your life. As well as exploring your history I also work in the here-and-now of the present moment.

Counselling can help with a wide range of issues, some of which are listed below. Ask me if you have any further questions about this.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained at the Minster Centre, one of Europe's foremost integrative psychotherapy and counselling training organisations where I received a Diploma in Counselling. I am registered with the BACP and adhere to their Ethical Framework for good practice and ethical principles.

I have worked with a diverse group of clients experiencing a wide range of problems. My experience includes:

- the Albany Trust which has specialist expertise in relationships and sexuality.

- the MCCPS (Minster Centre Psychotherapy and Counselling Services) which offers an affordable therapy service.

Before training as a counsellor I worked full-time as a garden designer in London.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

The first stage is making contact with me by phone or email. I offer a free 15 minute telephone conversation if you would like to speak before we meet. We can then arrange an initial consultation. This session is priced at the discounted rate of £50. At the first session you get the chance to experience how I work and we can explore what you are looking for from therapy.

If you would like to continue to meet we can set up a regular appointment. We usually meet weekly at the same time. This can be an open-ended arrangement or for a specific period of time.
