About me

I am BACP registered integrative counsellor. This means I integrate concepts from the psychodynamic and integrative models and work with what you know and can tell me about yourself, your experiences and your history, to uncover the roots of your concerns.

I a wide clinical experience working as a counsellor with a diverse range of clients within the NHS and in private practice. I deliver therapy in both Arabic and English languages. Training with Nafsiyat intercultural therapy centre allowed me to work interculturally and to deliver sensitive and effective therapy in accordance to my client's needs. I have a strong experience working with women of faith and clients that experienced acculturation and marginalisation.

I value the individual’s uniqueness that stems from the diversity of each individual’s experiences and understanding. I understand that therapy is different for everyone and is an empowering space where you can explore your feelings and work through your emotions to gain valuable insight. I believe that the emotional quality of the therapeutic relationship matters the most in enabling you to understand your own life story, find your solution and heal, rather than specific techniques. Therefore, the relationship between you and I is central to my approach as I aim to provide a warm, safe, welcoming and non-judgemental space in which you can feel acknowledged and heard.

I am dedicated to inclusive counselling; valuing the uniqueness of each other whilst recognising the differences we bring, as therapist and client, to the therapeutic relationship.

My integrative approach to counselling draws on concepts from the psychodynamic and person-centred models of therapy. By talking and thinking about the different aspects of your life and by exploring your relationships, unconscious themes and patterns start to emerge. This allows you to better understand your own unique experience, history and narrative which can lead to self-awareness and a deeper insight into your personal story. Additionally, therapy enables you to make different choices through understanding where we are at and exploring your thoughts and feelings.

Many people feel anxious Coming to counselling for the first time may cause you to worry what to say. I provide the space to talk and, together with you, we explore what brought you to counselling, what’s happening in your life, your needs and challenges, what changes you would like to make and what is holding you back. This means the therapeutic relationship is the heart of the therapeutic work.

I believe that we are born congruent, able and resourceful and that therapy works best in a reparative and reflective relationship. Working together, I will help you to explore the underlying issues that you struggle with, which could be based on childhood experiences, that withholds you from experiencing more fulfilling relationships. I will also aim to help you create a new perspective, find ways of relating to internal conflicts and achieve a balance, discover and develop new ways of approaching life; with less influence from the old patterns that have contributed to your distress and suffering in the present.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
