About me

Through life, we go through changes and events, both physically and emotionally. Sometimes these are positive, although some can be difficult. Counselling can support you through recent changes and events or past ones that may still be unsettling. Counselling can also help if you are feeling stuck in patterns or cycles unable to move towards positive change.

Counselling is not about offering advice, it offers a safe and non-judgemental environment in which you can explore and reflect on your thoughts and feelings and difficulties that arise in life. Talking through difficulties can often help you understand and recognise your thoughts and feelings more, offering new perspectives, alleviating pain, enabling you to make better choices in life and find coping strategies. All of which will help to create stability in life.

I am an Integrative counsellor, meaning that I tailor the therapy to suit each individual. The sessions will be tailored using a range of approaches including Humanistic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy.

I can assist with a range of difficulties including depression, stress, anger, panic attacks, obsessional compulsive behaviour, bereavement, self-esteem, family and relationship concerns and career/life choices. Whatever your reasons for attending counselling I am here to listen.

I understand that people have varied background, cultures, ethnicity, gender and sexual orientation, amongst many other diverse areas in life, which I show sensitivity towards.

Counselling is an individual process which takes a unique journey that may be difficult at times, though can be rewarding. It is important that you share this journey with someone that you can feel comfortable with. I offer an initial free telephone consultation giving you an opportunity to find out more about how I work and what I could offer.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.
