About me
I am an integrative counsellor offering Psychodynamic and Person Centered therapy.
You might be seeking support because you could be experiencing low mood, depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, and or just trying to make sense of what is going on. I know that seeking help and speaking about it might not be easy. Some of us perhaps never experienced being helped. A simple act of saying ‘No’ feels like one step away from disaster. My work with you will explore the emotions that you are going through, enabling you to find your voice and meaning in life at the pace you choose.
"Pain will Travel through families until someone is brave enough to feel it.” You have taken a brave first step toward self-discovery, and the self-inquiry now might feel overwhelming. As a therapist, I work relationally with a focus on building trust and nurturing self-compassion to explore these overwhelming feelings hindering your growth.
I have experience working with Anxiety, Bereavement and loss, Depression, Gender identity, Sexual orientation, Low self-esteem, Relationships, Narcissistic Abuse, Work-related stress and Trauma
I provide a safe, non-judgmental space that enables you to explore and make sense of your past and present experiences, supporting your journey toward healing, self-discovery, and development. In our first session, we explore the history of the difficulties you have been experiencing. Identify clear focus areas and map the journey. We can explore what it would be like working with me, what counselling is, and your hopes and fears. Everyone’s life is unique, and each of us has different ways to cope with life's demands, relationships, and stresses (past and present). We work with this uniqueness and harness our gift of curiosity to enable you to find meaning in life.
As a therapist of South-Asian background, I am keenly interested in the impact of culture and racial identity on psychological health. I am committed to the practice of equal opportunities for all, diversity, and equity. I have worked extensively with the LGBTQ community, exploring childhood trauma, sexual and Gender identity, and the impact of expectation of ‘Scene’ on the Client’s well-being. I have also gained substantial experience working with the wider BAME community and am passionate about client’s struggles with visibility (emotional and physical).
I am multilingual and in addition to English provide therapy in Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Marathi, and Gujarati(listening). I offer a free 15-minute initial consultation.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor (CPCAB Dip). I completed a Level 5 Diploma in Integrative Therapy and qualified in Psychodynamic and Person-Centered therapy models. I have worked extensively on a wide range of issues including self-esteem, Depression, Trauma, and work-based stress.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
