About me
My name is Nichola. I’m an Accredited Psychotherapist, Certified Teacher, Clinical Supervisor and EMDR Practitioner. I successfully work with a variety of clients all over the UK and the world, to help desensitise a wide range of traumas.
EMDR works on all traumas. These traumas can range from abuse, to trauma experienced through war or culture, to domestic violence, Mental Health to anxiety. This effective method of therapy gains results quickly, effectively and completely. This is the main reason my practice has developed in this direction. EMDR works…so why do anything else.
My approach is very modern and integrative. I work with the client from the beginning with an approach that best suits their emotional capacity. This is very holistic and is reviewed regularly throughout our work. My approach is challenging, with realistic outcomes. Where the basic belief and drive is to ‘empower clients’, within this method the client builds confidence and self-esteem to achieve their goals and change their lives. From a psychoeducational approach to EMDR this has been beneficial for individual adults, parents, adolescents, and even training environments.
Over the past few years, I have provided Psychotherapy to students within Cambridge University, as well as adapting my approach and training to provide therapy in nature to young people through the Wilderness Foundation. I now have my own clinics after the ending my contract as a Clinical Case Manager for a charity where I supervised social workers, therapists and trainee therapists. This was mainly trauma-based clients and parents who were experiencing violence from their children. Although working with violence and anger has been a theme throughout my career, I have achieved great success with parents to support more presence within their home through a specialised approach called NVR.
My largest achievement during my career has been my EMDR training, where I was trained by Alexandra Richmond. An EMDR Accredited Consultant who trained under the EMDR founder Dr Francine Shapiro. This has helped me to move into working within trauma, which is now where my passion has settled. This method helps all traumas from the age of two to adulthood. Where I have had huge success in short periods of time.
If you are looking for a unique and successful approach, contact me today.
I look forward to connecting with you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I began my career back in 2004, where I trained as an integrative therapist with an instant liking for Transactional Analysis. Over the years, I have trained and learnt many techniques and strategies whilst also researching theories and methods to enhance my work. Over the years, I have adapted these methods to provide a very powerful and holistic approach that drives change and empowerment with a variety of issues and concerns with people of all ages.
2008, I decided to work within the education sector and the Youth Offending Service, working with adolescents and parents, providing therapeutic interventions to a variety of issues and concerns. This consisted mainly of individual sessions for young people and a psychoeducational approach for parents. During this period, I also had the opportunity to support colleges, schools, and academies to help develop the correct support within their establishments.
I found myself drawn to teaching and was very much aware that my passion for Counselling and Psychotherapy had grown. In 2015, I felt I wanted to broaden my knowledge as well as encourage and facilitate others on their journey of self-discovery from a teaching approach. I have gone on to teach, write programmes and deliver therapy some for establishments as Regent’s University London, Havering Adult College, The NHS, Cambridge University and charities such as National Autistic Society and One Community.
I now work privately, offering a variety of therapeutic interventions. Focusing mainly on trauma through an EMDR approach with clients all over the UK and the world.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
