About me

Welcome! I am a qualified counsellor/psychotherapist offering talking therapy and EMDR therapy online. My therapeutic approach is best described as person-centred, relational and trauma focused. I work with clients to explore different issues including low self-esteem, stress, anxiety, depression, grief, loss, identity, relationship issues, and trauma or simply to have some time for your own self-care and self-awareness.

My aim is to provide a space that you can be entirely yourself, and where you have the potential to grow within a collaborative relationship characterized by trust and understanding, and that therapy, given the right conditions can help to identify, accept, and change the difficult areas in your life.

I am particularly interested in working with clients who may be struggling with adverse childhood experiences, traumatic attachments and/or more recent stressful events that are affecting the quality of their relationships, work-life and choices. I integrate somatic therapy techniques for calming and regulating anxiety and stress. Plus, I prioritize and uphold an affirmative, inclusive, and non-discriminatory practice particularly as it relates to individual experiences of ethnicity, heritage and culture, GSRD, neurodiversity, disability, group identity privilege and family backgrounds.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an EMDR Therapist and an accredited counsellor/psychotherapist (BACP) with a master’s in psychology. Certified to deliver therapy online, I have been offering counselling since 2018, working with adults and young people (18+) both individually and in groups, either briefly or long term.

My therapeutic experience includes over two years counselling at a trauma informed service for survivors of sexual and domestic abuse. Plus, specialised areas such as bereavement, university student counselling, peri/postnatal mothers and offering counselling to people working in the Arts. Additionally, as a facilitator for support groups for the national charity, OCD Action, for people who experience symptoms related to obsessive-compulsive disorder and the associated conditions.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
