About me
Welcome! I am a qualified British counsellor/psychotherapist offering therapy online. I work with clients to explore different issues including low self-esteem, stress, anxiety, depression, grief, loss, identity, relationship issues, neurodivergent conditions, and trauma or simply to have some time for your own self-care and self-awareness. My intention is to create an environment where you feel heard, understood and valued in your own right. One that will give you a clearer sense of self and a space where you can explore any personal obstacles in your life.
For me it is very important to try to understand what is going on for you. There are many reasons we choose to come to therapy and it can be a big step to make the decision. I begin this process by offering a free 30-minute meeting to give you an opportunity to ask any questions and to understand what you are looking for in therapy. In moving forward, I will offer you a safe, confidential and accepting space where we can work through what’s on your mind at a pace that is comfortable for you. I also focus on providing an inclusive, anti-oppressive practice and do my best to be aware of all human experiences whereas I enjoy consistently training and doing research to adapt and meet this.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a Person-Centred BACP accredited counsellor/psychotherapist with a masters in psychology. I have been counselling since 2018 and work online in private practice with adults and young people (18+) both individually and in groups. I offer short or long term therapy, usually weekly for up to 60 minutes per session and am also open to customising the frequency and length of sessions.
My therapeutic experience includes specialised settings such as working with survivors of sexual and domestic abuse, in bereavement, university student counselling, with peri/postnatal mothers and offering counselling to people working in the Arts. I also have a special interest in group work and facilitate support groups for the national UK charity, OCD Action, for people experiencing symptoms of obsessive-compulsive disorder and the associated conditions.
Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
