About me
Why do I feel this way? Where am I going? Who am I? Life can be challenging, confusing or overwhelming. You might be experiencing anxiety, low mood, patterns of behaviour, relationship difficulties, or the loss of someone close to you. Maybe a major life change has left you wondering about your identity and meaning. Or perhaps you can't put your finger on what is wrong but just feel that something isn’t quite right.
Talking therapy gives us the opportunity to explore where we are, where we have been, and the possibilities of doing things differently.
My name is Mark and I'm a therapist based in Kingswood, Bristol BS15 offering therapy in-person, online and walking out in nature.
I work with adults of all ages, from young adults who are trying to make sense of themselves and the direction their lives are taking, to older people facing the challenges of our world today.
I have experience of working with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, phobias, relationship issues and bereavement.
I adapt my sessions to better support autistic people and those with ADHD. I'm LGBTQ+ affirming and aim to provide to all a secure, welcoming environment where you can talk openly without fear of judgement.
If you're wondering whether we would be a good fit, I offer a free 20-minute consultation to talk about what's bringing you to therapy and whether I might be the right person to support you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I trained as a humanistic counsellor at the University of West England, graduating with a Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy (Level 7).
As well as my own practice, I am a counsellor with the Heart to Heart organisation in Bedminster.
I have also been a Samaritans Listener & Mentor, and worked as a community mediator across Bristol.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
