About me

Do you struggle with anxiety, trauma, or low self esteem? Has life just become too much and you need a safe space judgement free to work through it all? I can provide that space, a space for you to feel heard and help you unpick all of your thoughts, feelings and emotions and to understand yourself a bit better, helping you work towards inner peace. Counselling can seem daunting but making contact is the first step to start the process towards healing and self growth.

Our first appointment will give you the chance to meet me and help me to understand what you would like to get out of therapy and whether my approach is right for you.  After that appointments will be weekly at the same time and the length of therapy can be open ended depending on what you would like to talk about and your personal circumstances.

You can bring what ever you would like to the sessions, whether you would like to concentrate on a specific issue or look to explore things on a deeper level. I will provide you with the experience of being heard and we will move at a pace comfortable to you.

Couples

All of the above may be effecting your relationships, I offer a space for you and your partner to both feel heard and to gain an understanding of what may be going unsaid in your relationship to promote communication and understanding. Maybe there has been an affair or loss of trust. I can provide an unbiased space to work through the rupture towards repair. Part of the work will be to explore ways to reconnect and move forwards when the pain has been expressed.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am trained and qualified in psychodynamic counselling, often we have relationship templates or have built defences that we needed in our early or formative years but which may not help us going forwards & maybe effecting current relationships in a negative way. I believe the therapeutic relationship is a safe relationship to explore all of these feelings gain insight and work through trauma.

I am a BACP Registered Counsellor which means my practice has been deemed to meet the standard required for a competent, ethical and independent counsellor.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
