About me

I believe that everyone has the ability through their own inner resources to resolve their own issues and problems they face. I see my role as one who helps you to get in touch with those resources within yourself through the work we do together.

I am an experienced UKCP accredited Transactional Analysis (TA) Psychotherapist. I am also a BACP accredited counsellor. I am passionate about the work that I do. Through my practice, I enjoy working with a wide range of people from various backgrounds and of all ages.

How can I help you?
Psychotherapy with me offer the time and space for you to talk and the opportunity to be listened to by someone who really hears what you have to say. A safe and holding space where you can be yourself and explore the thoughts, feelings and emotions that you are experiencing. Gaining a greater understanding and deeper self-awareness can often be the first step towards making positive change. In this way, therapy with me aims to help you find your own way forward and allow you to be your authentic self.

Individual Therapy I enjoy working with clients for both short term and longer-term therapy. Individual one-to one therapy sessions take place weekly and sessions are for 50 minutes. Sessions can take place face -to face or online. To make a start, you come for an assessment session where we can meet and see whether we want to work together. I will do some initial assessment and see if I can help you and you can see how you feel about working with me. After this, weekly sessions would commence.

Couples
I offer couples counselling for heterosexual and same-sex couples. Couples therapy sessions are usually for 75 minutes. The frequency of couples sessions will vary based on my clinical assessment of what you require.  I offer family therapy sessions and these are for 90 minutes. Sometimes, based on my clinical assessment, I may see family members individually or in pairs.
Whatever type of therapy you come for, at the beginning we will discuss your expectations of coming for therapy and what might be possible and include agreeing goals for you.

I am also a qualified Registered General Nurse (R.G.N.) and postgraduate level teacher and trainer.

My practice builds on over 30 years of experience of working with people in health, mental health and educational fields.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
