About me

Sometimes life can feel too difficult to handle on your own and that's where counselling can help.

You might not even know exactly what the problem is, but things just don't feel right or it might be an issue that has been troubling you for years but you have never known quite where to start in making a change. Counselling can provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to explore what is troubling you.

I will listen without judgement and together we can try to work out a way forward so that you can begin to live the life you want to be living.

I work as an integrative counsellor, which means I will draw on different techniques and approaches if they seem helpful to you. Everyone is unique and no one fixed way suits everybody.

I have experience of working with a range of client issues including:

  • anxiety
  • depression
  • domestic abuse issues
  • insomnia
  • life transitions
  • relationship and attachment issues
  • sexual abuse
  • stress
  • trauma

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained as a Person-Centred therapist which means I believe the relationship between the client and the counsellor is the bedrock from which change and growth can take place. During our sessions I may also draw on techniques from other styles of counselling such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) as and when they appear relevant and helpful. I have a particular interest in using mindfulness techniques to challenge unhelpful thoughts that might be getting in the way of you living the life you want to be living.

I am a qualified and registered counsellor with a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, awarded by the Counselling and Psychotherapy central Awarding Body (CPCAB).

I am an Accredited registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP)

I am fully insured and hold a DBS enhanced Certificate.

I attend regular workshops to update my CPD and have regular individual and group supervision meetings to ensure my practice is working to meet my clients' needs.

My experience includes working with a not for profit community counselling organisation and a domestic violence charity.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
