About me

Hello,

I'm Kimberley, a registered psychotherapist with experience supporting adults and young people across the world through integrative psychotherapy (both online and in-person). I appreciate just how important this step will be,  reaching out for support, and so I hope to offer some insight into myself (as both person and therapist) and my practice to hopefully help you with this important decision.

My Approach:

My work with clients encompasses three core values (therapist transparency, empathy and unconditional acceptance) for creating an empowering, safe, open and gentle therapeutic space to facilitate change and healing. I will work with you to explore and make sense of how you are feeling and to support you in identifying your own way forward.

I offer both online and in-person therapy, underpinned by the Person-Centred Approach to counselling. Other approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Interventions, and creative arts may also inform the work we do together, if this is something you might like to explore. I understand that each person is different, and might need different things from therapy too. I hope to offer a more integrated approach which considers and nurtures human difference.

The Person-Centred Approach:

Person-Centred therapy provides the foundation for my work with clients. This approach aims to empower clients to connect with their own natural capacity for healing and growth, and to facilitate change through the therapeutic relationship. Person-Centred therapy is a non-directive approach, which works to connect with the core and root-causes of emotional and psychological difficulties. If you would like to hear more about the approach, or if you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Free Initial Consultation:

I know that sometimes it can feel very difficult taking this first step and so I believe it is important to provide an opportunity to get to know your counsellor before beginning therapy. To support this, I offer an initial free 20-minute consultation if this is something you might like to do.

About Me:

I am originally from Eswatini, Southern Africa, where I spent most of my childhood. I enjoy long walks, gentle runs, and yoga - I will also try my hand at anything crafty! I have established my practice in the hope of supporting and empowering adults and young people to achieve emotional and psychological wellbeing through therapy.

I hope to provide a confidential, professional and experienced service for people seeking support for emotional difficulties, life challenges, career development, or more complex psychological conditions.

As well as experience working with a variety of client presentations, I also have specific training and experience supporting: Anxiety; Depression; Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD); and low self-esteem.

If you're curious about the approach, or perhaps might like to explore working together, please don't hesitate to get in touch with any questions at all,

Warmest wishes,

Kimberley

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
