About me

Right now you may be feeling lost or stuck, depressed or anxious or just in need of support.  What I offer is a safe and open space for you to explore whatever is going on for you. I believe through counselling you can begin to unlock the potential you already have to live the life you want. You may not be able to see this as being possible for you right now, and that’s ok.

I am a qualified integrative counsellor which means I bring a variety of theories and tools to create a tailored approach that suits you. I have experience of working in a variety of different settings, in particular working with people with trauma, addiction and abuse. I am a Registered member of BACP and abide by their ethical guidelines.

My aim is to create a safe environment where we can build a secure relationship. I will not tell you what you should do, nor will I judge you. Within the counselling session, I will give you my full attention and focus to understand your point of view. Working together, we can explore your issues so that you come away with answers that make sense to you. This will be at your pace, you only need to tell me what you want to, when you feel comfortable to. People have said they find me down to earth, relatable and with a calming manner. I am interested in working with any issues or concerns you wish to bring.

What you can expect:

You can contact me by phone or email and I will respond as soon as I am able to. If you would like, I can offer a free 20 minute telephone consultation to help you decide if you would like to work with me. We can meet for an initial 50 minute session and begin to discuss what you hope to get from counselling. I will provide you with a copy of the counselling agreement which you can take home to read and sign at your leisure. We will then work together weekly for 6 sessions, at which point we will review and discuss how things are going. We will continue to check in regularly.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Diploma in Professional Studies in Counselling, The University of the West of England
  • Certificate in Counselling Skills, The University of the West of England
  • Degree in Counselling Psychology BSc. (Hons) 2:1, The University of Wolverhampton

I am committed to ongoing professional development and attend regular training and workshops to keep my skills and experience up to date and continue to expand what knowledge and skills I am able to offer clients.

I have experience counselling clients from many different backgrounds and with a range of issues. I have worked with clients who have experienced abuse and trauma and worked with them to reduce panic attacks and flashbacks and take control back of their lives. I have worked in addictions recovery settings supporting clients through alcohol and drug addictions. I have experience working with clients experiencing suicidal thoughts or self-harming behaviours.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
