About me

I was inspired to pursue a career in counselling because I experienced a lack of access to mental health services personally and professionally and wanted to improve this access for others. I work together with individual clients’ to find the best approach for them, I have experience working with a wide variety of subjects such as depression, relationship concerns, anxiety and many other areas. I can work with individuals over 18, regrettably, I do not offer children’s or couples counselling at this time.

I am an integrative counsellor, this means that I tailor my approach to you personally by utilising various techniques from many different types of therapy.

This allows us to work towards where you want to be together without being tied to one way of working. For example, the underpinning principles of the Person-Centred Approach are focused on the counsellor being honest, non-judgmental and fully accepting whilst the core of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is working with negative thought patterns and identifying more positive responses. I offer sessions on the phone and Zoom currently, you do not have to turn the camera on if you do not feel comfortable. This entirely online model again promotes accessibility and flexibility which I feel, are central to building a relationship where the therapy works around you and not the other way around.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have undergraduate training in psychology from Keele University which was completed in 2018 and have also completed an MSc in Psychotherapeutic Counselling from Staffordshire University. I have experience in primarily short-term therapy, working with a wide variety of clients and presenting issues. I also have experience within Bupa providing short-term therapy to clients as well as completing assessments, which has allowed me to broaden my experience and have a deeper understanding of clinical decision-making and risk. I now work with Better Help on a part-time basis, providing sessional work to their network of clients.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
