About me

My name is Karen, I am a qualified counsellor and hypnotherapist based in Cosby, Leicestershire.

Personal life experiences and my own journey through grief, loss, anxiety and depression have led me on a path of self-discovery, using different therapies along the way.

I decided to train in counselling and hypnotherapy in order to fulfil my passion for helping others reach their true potential.

I am a pluralistic trained counsellor, which means I can bring different elements from different counselling theories into your therapy, meaning your therapy is fully tailored to your needs.

Counselling is a talking therapy that allows you as the client to express thoughts and feelings without judgement or criticism.

Counselling can work in the here and now or it can mean working on past events or experiences, everyone’s journey is individual to them.

As a counsellor I will not offer you advice or tell you how you should feel or behave. Instead the safe therapeutic space provided, will enable us to explore what is going on for you, and why you are experiencing difficulties. I will walk alongside you and guide you on your journey of self-exploration and discovery. I am totally client led and will only work with what you bring to each session.

Each of us is an individual, with our own thoughts and beliefs. At Karen Plimmer Therapies you will be treated as the individual that you are, you will be listened to and respected at all times. My aim is to help you achieve the best version of yourself by working with you on areas that you feel hold you back. This will be done in a kind, empathic, non-judgemental and confidential way.

I encourage openness and honesty, this ensures you get the most out of each session.

Counselling can help with:

  • Difficult life events
  • Relationship issues
  • Bereavement or loss
  • Difficult emotions
  • Stress
  • Anxiety
  • Depression

A counsellor client relationship will only be helpful if there is a connection, not every therapist will suit every individual. When choosing a therapist it is important that you as the client feels comfortable with your therapist. I offer a free half hour meeting, either on the phone, via video link or face to face to give you the chance to meet me, ask any questions and decide if you feel we could work together. There will be no obligation at this meeting to book any further appointments, and you will not have to open up about anything at this meeting that you don’t feel ready to talk about.
