About me

Hello, I’m Karen.

Perhaps you find yourself overthinking conversations, struggling with self-doubt, people-pleasing, or reacting strongly in relationships, or shutting down completely and wondering why.

These patterns can often develop through earlier life experiences where you learned to adapt, stay emotionally guarded, or put others’ needs before your own in order to feel safe, accepted, or loved. Over time, this can affect your self-esteem, relationships, anxiety levels, and sense of self.

If this resonates with you, you’re not alone.

I offer a calm, supportive, and non-judgmental space where we can explore what’s happening for you at your own pace. You do not need to have everything figured out before starting therapy.

Together, we can begin to understand how your past experiences may be shaping the way you feel today. As understanding deepens, many people begin to feel more emotionally grounded, more self-accepting, and better able to respond differently to difficult thoughts, emotions, and relationships.

My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and led by you.

My Approach

I am a qualified integrative counsellor and hold a CPCAB Level 5 Diploma in Somatic Trauma Therapy.

I work in a trauma-informed way, drawing from person-centred, psychodynamic, and somatic approaches, tailoring therapy to your individual needs.

At the heart of my work is the belief that you are the expert on your own experience. Therapy offers a space to explore your thoughts, feelings, relationships, and patterns with curiosity and compassion rather than judgment.

Alongside talking therapy, I also help clients understand how anxiety, stress, and trauma can affect the nervous system and body. Many people live constantly “in their heads,” disconnected from what their body is holding.

By developing awareness of physical sensations, emotional responses, and nervous system patterns, therapy can help you feel more regulated, more connected to yourself, and safer within your own body again.

I have a particular interest in:

Anxiety and overthinking
Low self-esteem and self-worth
Childhood trauma and relational wounds
People-pleasing and difficulty setting boundaries
Emotional overwhelm and shutdown
Relationship difficulties and attachment patterns
Nervous system dysregulation
Bereavement, grief, and loss
Depression and low mood

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
