About me

Are you depressed, and lacking in energy? Are you struggling with constant worry and 'on the edge' as if something awful might happen? Is it repetitive thoughts that will not go away, or poor self-esteem that makes interaction with other people, or engaging in activities too difficult to bear? All these are distressing challenges - possibly stemming from past experiences, big life changes and difficult relationships.

Seeking help can be daunting, but you have taken the most important step in addressing these issues. I will provide a safe space and walk alongside you to help you understand yourself better. Together, we will unpack your problems, looking at how they impact on you, and how you respond to them. As a black therapist who lived in various parts of the world, I appreciate different cultures and the issues clients may be sensitive to. I will respect your experiences and provide space to explore them. I am a CBT therapist, so we will look at the dynamics between our situations, thoughts, behaviour and feelings. Where appropriate, we will use aspects of other modalities (like Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Compassion Focused) to unlock what stands in the way of you experiencing fulfilment.  Everyone’s experience and healing journey is unique. We will work together to develop a plan that works just for you.

I have supported clients with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, stress, racial discrimination, grief, loneliness/isolation and OCD.

Our first session will focus on your goals and expectations from counselling, assessing your needs, and an agreement of how we will work together. Each counselling session will last 50 minutes.

Before the first session

I offer a free 30-minute telephone/video consultation. You can ask any questions about my therapy and this gives us an opportunity to work out if we are a fit for each other.

What to do next

I warmly invite you to get in touch. Either email me or call 07391 387250. I will return your contact, usually within the same day.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a PGDiploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy & Groupwork.

I am a member of British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).

Besides private practice, I am a Volunteer counsellor at Kilmarnock Station Counselling Services and Destiny Community Counselling service.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
