About me
Hello I’m Jody,
An experienced, warm, accepting, trauma informed, Integrative Counsellor with a passion for supporting adults and teenagers.
If you’ve found yourself here you’re possibly finding life difficult right now. You or your teenager might be struggling with anxiety, stress, low self esteem, overthinking or a difficult life event.
You may have experienced a bereavement/loss or are struggling with your relationships with others and unsure of how to move forwards.
Counselling with me is a chance for you to pause, take a breath and be truly heard whilst untangling your struggles. Together we will explore what’s weighing you down, whether that’s feeling anxious, your relationships with others, day to day life challenges or difficult past experiences.
I can help you to:
*Understand and manage overwhelm.
*Feel more capable and confident.
*Gain insight and clarity
*Work on self doubt and not feeling good enough.
*Learn to communicate better
*Untangle unhelpful thoughts or behaviours.
*Develop self awareness.
*Find effective ways to cope.
I will tailor your sessions to meet your needs as we are all unique and I believe that therapy should be tailored to suit you. I offer appointments weekly or two weekly and there is also an option of a single session check in if needed.
If you are enquiring for your teenager, allow them to be a part of the process when choosing a therapist. Let them read my profile, watch my video and ask them what they think.
I am based in Ashton Upon Mersey in Sale, Manchester, M33.
I offer sessions;
*Face to face in person
*Online by video call and telephone
*Weekly or two weekly

Experience
My journey as a counsellor and someone who has faced personal challenges has shaped my approach to counselling. I know first hand how it feels to walk through the door and attend a first counselling session. I understand how overwhelming life can feel at times. My lived experience is what fuels my passion to support others to live the life they deserve.
*I have worked in private practice for a number of years.
*I also work within Secondary schools counselling students and staff whilst also facilitating parent workshops.
*I have experience supporting teachers and support staff with reflective supervision sessions which are imperative to their well-being.
*Previous experience includes working within a community mental health service with those who have faced common emotional and mental wellness challenges including feelings of anxiety, stress, low mood/self esteem/confidence, grief & loss, overwhelm, trauma and childhood issues.
*I volunteered my time for a charity working with those affected by pregnancy-related issues, traumatic birth, the loss of a baby and pregnancy-related mental health issues.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
