About me

A warm welcome and thank you for taking the time to view my profile.

About my practice:

In this ever changing world we live in, there is one thing completely within our control: how we feel and how we react. It can take time and effort to get there, but you don't have to figure it out alone - that's where therapy comes in!

Anxiety, depression, overwhelm, low self-esteem, difficult relationships, insecurity, self-criticism, loneliness are all signs that something in our life is off-balance. As a therapist it's my role to listen to your experiences, understand what's at the root of your feelings and work together to find a way forward.

More often than not, the struggles we encounter as adults are grounded to some extent in our experiences growing-up. This doesn't mean therapy is about digging in to every corner of your childhood, but our sessions will seek to understand where experiences earlier in your life may be unintentionally getting in the way of you confidently moving forward. We will find ways for you to heal and soothe previous challenges and traumas, feel a sense of calm and self-assurance and develop positive coping strategies should life present challenges in the future.

I always come from a position of the upmost respect for my clients and I offer a safe space to explore emotions and feelings without judgement or bias. Our sessions will be tailored to what feels right for you in terms of focus, pace, depth and level of challenge.

I use a blend of approaches to inform our work together. These include:

  • Compassion focused therapy
  • Schema therapy
  • Attachment theory
  • Cognitive behavioural therapy
  • Internal Family systems

In addition to in-person sessions, I also offer online therapy which has become increasingly popular for many reasons, most notably its convenience – there's no need to take additional time out of your day to travel to therapy, the ease and comfort of attending therapy from the comfort of your own home and the ability to choose a therapist from anywhere in the country.

About me:

I started working in the field of psychological support 14 years ago, facilitating behavioral change programmes. Since then I have worked with clients presenting a wide range of life challenges, allowing me to build-up a wealth of experience and knowledge.

Aside from my practice I also work within the professional associations sector - currently for a STEM related organisation and previously for the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, managing their ethics service. Therefore you can be assured that our work together will be undertaken with the utmost regard for ethical practice. I believe it to be a privilege to work alongside my clients, creating a safe and trusting relationship in which to explore your needs and work towards your goals.

You've already taken the first step by looking for a therapist, why not take the next and drop me a message. I'm always happy to answer any questions you have about my practice to ensure I'm the right therapist for you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
