About me

Hi there, are you feeling worried and overwhelmed? Do you find it difficult to give a voice to your thoughts and feelings? Feeling anxious, uncertain and struggling with self-doubt can be exhausting and hold you back in your life.

Change is possible, you may just need a little help. Counselling is an opportunity to give a voice to your thoughts and feelings, to gain understanding and work towards your goals at your own pace. Developing the belief in yourself, that even in difficult times you will be able to cope can give you the freedom and confidence to make different choices.

I can offer you a safe, supportive space to talk through your concerns. I am gentle, sensitive and easy to talk to. Life can be intense, stressful and complicated at times. I can be there to hear your story and support you in gaining an understanding about yourself and your life. Maybe you have a specific concern you would like to explore or maybe you just know that you want to feel better but are not sure how. I am here to help. I have a particular interest in working with clients with anxiety and self-esteem concerns. I have helped clients understand themselves better, make sense of their relationships and work through difficult past events in their lives.

I work with the whole person; thoughts, feelings, body and soul, appreciating how unique we all are. I will work at your own pace in building a trusting relationship where you can begin to explore and share your concerns. Having counselling is an effective way you can start to make a positive change today.

I can offer short term or long term sessions either face to face in a lovely, peaceful therapy room in Plympton or online using Zoom. As an Integrative counsellor I can work alongside you using knowledge and skills from different theories; person centred, CBT and Gestalt. This means that I can adapt my approach to meet the individual needs of my clients. I participate in regular CPD to maintain and build on my skills and knowledge. I have completed specific CPD on inner child work and working with trauma.

I have over 20 years of experience working in various different roles within the health and social care sector. My past experience in Mental Health Nursing means that I am used to supporting others at the most difficult moments in their lives.

If you would like to get in touch to see if I am the right counsellor for you or just to find out more information then please email me and we can arrange a free 15 minute phone call.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

If you think I can help then email me and we can start to chat about whether I am the right counsellor for you. I can offer you a phone call to have a chat about any questions you may have and I may ask some questions to gain a better understanding of what help you are looking for so that I can make sure this is something that I can help with. I can talk you through what will happen in our first session and then book you in if you want to go ahead with having counselling with me.

I use a lovely, peaceful therapy room in a location that is easy to access by car or bus. There is plenty of on road parking.

If you prefer online sessions then I use Zoom and will send you a link to our session the afternoon/evening before our session.
