Jane Watkins, BABCP Accredited Cognitive Psychotherapist
01634 711 193 / 07754 368541
I offer a service that I would be happy for my own loved ones to come to. I am a fully qualified and BABCP accredited Cognitive Psychotherapist (you maybe more familiar with this being called Cognitive Behaviour Therapy usually shortened to CBT).
I work with children, adolescents and adults (including couples) with about 10 years of experience using a variety of therapies including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), solution focused therapy, systemic therapy (family therapy) and clinical hypnotherapy
What can I help with?
Anxiety, OCD, social anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder, depression, health anxiety, PTSD and trauma, difficulties in relationships, low self esteem and difficulties managing anger. I have also worked with young people and adults on the Autistic spectrum (ASD), ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), behavioural difficulties and school refusal. I offer social skills training for those on the Autistic Spectrum (ASD and Asperger's).
Young People and children:
I have worked in CAMHS (child and adolescent mental health services) with young people, children and their families and carers with a wide range of difficulties including self harm, depression, suicidal ideation, PTSD, bullying, low self esteem, difficulties making friends, stress, emotional and behavioural difficulties, ASD (Autism), ADHD, depression, OCD, trauma and anxiety. I have worked in various NHS and private sector services, including the national specialist children's unit (mental health), community adolescent crisis and neuro-developmental team.
When working in CAMHS it was identified that there are a large number of children and young people who struggle to respond to traditional parenting and boundary setting. This can lead to behavioural problems at home and or school. A parenting programme called Non Violent Resistance (NVR) has been developed that can really make a difference. I have worked with families in groups and also individually using NVR to help to restore balance at home and at school.
I have gained a lot of experience of working with adults in NHS IAPT services. I have worked with adults experiencing depression, OCD, PTSD (trauma), social anxiety, stress, victims of domestic violence, low self-esteem, GAD (generalised anxiety disorder), phobias, panic, anxiety, anger management difficulties and health anxiety. I have also worked with bereavement and physical health problems. I also work with those wanting to give up smoking using hypnotherapy.
I am currently in the process of moving house out of the Kent area. I will continue to offer CBT for young people and adults via secure video conferencing, Skype or telephone. I have been working online with clients for the last 2 years both privately and with the NHS and it is just as successful as face to face work. All my online clients report this is much more convenient as they can do their session in their lunch hour, before leaving work so they can then go straight home, when they are away, travelling on business and so on. For busy parents they find it very helpful as they don't need to juggle time to get their child to me as sessions can be done from their bedrooms! Talking to each other via the internet is a daily part of life and so therapy is just an extension of that.

Price list for Therapy sessions at Rochester
£55.00 per hour for individual therapy (usually sessions last for 50-60 minutes).
Some disorders require some 90 minute sessions. I will advise you of this at our first session and when 90 minutes cost £75.00. This is mostly for PTSD and social anxiety. Generally through a course of 12 sessions this might be for 2-3 sessions but varies according to need and might be more or less or not required. If you are accompanying your child for their therapy there is not an extra charge for you sitting in on the session.
How to pay:
Payment can be made via bank transfer or cash. If paying by bank transfer then payment is required in advance of the session. Credit card payments coming soon and will incur a small surchange to cover the additional cost.
I require 48 hours notice of cancellation to give me the opportunity to fill your slot. If you do not give me 48 hours notice then I will charge you for the missed session. This is always difficult so please avoid this situation and give me prior notice if you need to cancel.
