About me

Sometimes we just can't cope the way we always have. Maybe you need help to understand why you're feeling anxious and struggling, and you need support to feel more in control again.

It doesn't matter where you live as I offer on-line or telephone counselling. Over the last few years I have specialised in virtual counselling and have found my clients have loved the flexibility it allows.

The relationship is just as respectful and effective as face-to-face therapy, and its safe and confidential in your own comfortable space. I offer a free initial session to discuss how it works and offer advice on how and where to set yourself up. It can be in a quiet room, or in your car, or as you walk. The important thing is that it is regular, so as to fully benefit from your developing knowledge and personal awareness.

“The mind is like water, when it’s turbulent it’s difficult to see, when it’s calm, everything becomes clear” (Prasad Mahes).

Training, qualifications & experience

I'm a qualified counsellor and my training was in Humanistic Counselling at the University of Chichester. My particular skill-set has developed over several years in private practice, and as a volunteer counsellor for two local charities (a young persons charity, and a home counselling service for adults with limited mobility).

My practice is Integrative, incorporating several theoretical models including Person-centred, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). That's the theory but the help is uniquely tailored to meet every client's different needs. I offer a space to talk with no judgement and no agenda, so whether you've had counselling before or are new to it, your journey to feeling better and more in control will be as individual as you.

As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I am regulated by them and work in accordance with their Code of Ethics and Practice. I am committed to continual professional development.

  • Certified Online and Telephone Counsellor
  • Diploma Humanistic Counselling - University of Chichester
  • Certificate in Counselling Skills - University of Chichester
  • BACP Certificate of Proficiency

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

Through my charity work and private practice I have worked with clients aged 16-86, dealing with a wide variety of issues and relationship difficulties that have brought on anxiety and depression, generally manifesting in sadness about the past or fears for the future.

Additional information

The relationship between counsellor and client is key to the success of the therapy so I offer an initial free telephone session so we can chat about why you want help.

Cost of counselling is £50 for a 50 minute session.

I am often asked, “How many sessions will I need?” I don’t impose time-limits on therapy and am guided by the client and by their reflections on how they feel and how it is helping them. As a result I regularly discuss progress and how counselling is helping. In my experience clients always know when they are happy to end, so the decision is made together.

I AM HAPPY TO TAKE SELF-REFERRALS OR GP REFERRALS.
