About me

My name is James and I am a Counsellor and Psychotherapist based in South East London.

We are living in a time of unprecedented levels of anxiety and depression. The pressures of modern life are complicated and mental health problems are on the rise.

In my practice, I offer a non-judgemental space where we can explore the issues affecting your life today. I am an Integrative Counsellor, meaning I draw on a range of practical and theoretical concepts depending on what is right for you and the challenges you are facing.

My journey to becoming a Counsellor was not straightforward. Prior to this, I worked as a tradesman for 15 years. In 2017, after over a decade of struggling with anxiety, depression and substance addiction, caused mainly by my experience with Crohn’s disease (a chronic autoimmune disorder), I reached a devastating point in my life where I had to choose between making changes to my mental wellbeing, or risk not being around at all. Personal therapy, exercise and meditation saw me through that time, and have enabled me to find lasting happiness and stability.

No matter what you are facing, or when you are facing it, there is a way through. While I am a specialist in supporting those with chronic illnesses, anxiety, depression and addiction, I a prepared to work with you on whatever you would like to explore.

If you think you might be interested in speaking, or have any questions, please get in touch by email.

I am available for in-person or online sessions.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
