About me
I’m James Walford, an integrative psychotherapist and couples counsellor based in South East London and online.
I offer an accepting, non-judgemental space where we can explore whatever it is that you’re facing. Whether it’s anxiety, depression, addiction, relationship issues, living with ADHD and/or Neurodivergence, the emotional toll of living with chronic illness, personal trauma, or anything else, we will work together to help you feel more at peace and more connected.
From me, you can expect a reliable, non-judgemental base to talk things through. I believe there is no one size fits all approach to therapy so I draw on a range of approaches including Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, Person-centred, Solution focussed, CBT, internal family systems and mindfulness therapies. This multi-disciplinary approach allows me to better cater to your specific needs and help you find better ways to manage your mental health, resolve focussed issues and improve your daily life.
We’ll work at your pace, using a blend of talk-therapy modalities, mindfulness and other holistic supports. You don’t need to have the “right words” to explain your symptoms/experiences, or a clear plan. We can explore that together
I came to therapy through personal experience. I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease aged 10 which led to severe anxiety, depression and subsequently addiction. Therapy helped me rebuild my life from the inside out, and that journey inspired me to become a therapist.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
