About me

Therapy

Sometimes we are feeling lost or can’t cope with certain aspects of our lives.
It can be helpful to just be listened to when we feel overwhelmed.

I provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment in which to share your story.  Here you can explore safely what it might be that is troubling you.

Aim

Therapy can help you to explore obstacles and look at difficult feelings.
Growing awareness will enable you to make conscious choices.  You will gain a sense of your own agency and will be able to live your life more fully.

My work

My model of practice is Integrative Transpersonal, which means that I am able to incorporate different therapeutic approaches into our work, depending very much on your individual needs and what you might require at any given time.
Your needs within our therapeutic relationship are uppermost.

I work relationally and am interested in your relationships outside of therapy as well as in our own therapeutic relationship and how this might develop.

I work psychodynamically and am curious about your formative years, your ‘family’ dynamics and the affects those might have on your sense of self.

I like to explore imagery and creative expression and might incorporate dreams, imagination and guided visualisation to deepen your process of self-exploration.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified Integrative Transpersonal Counsellor with a Diploma from the Re-Vision Training Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP accredited).  I am a registered member of the BACP and follow their ethical framework.

I have worked for the NHS for almost 20 years, interacting with people from different walks of life.  I started off as a Paramedic in the London Ambulance Service, where I saw an increasing number of patients struggling with their mental health.  This led me to pursue a career in counselling.  I initially worked   for a Counselling, Psychotherapy and Wellbeing practice in London Bridge before setting up in private practice, first in London and now in Hastings.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
