About me

I believe that we all have the ability to grow and expand from the foundations of what we have learnt. We're valuable and have so much potential but it's totally normal to find ourselves questioning who we are. Many of us experience feelings of anxiety, depression and feeling sad and reaching out for support takes real strength. I offer a safe relationship to talk through the troubles of everyday life as well as major life events that have rocked your sense of self. We will work with what you bring as you are the expert on yourself and everything is relevant and necessary to personal growth.

We can work together to explore your early experiences and how you manage these in your present world. These early experiences can echo into our adult life whether you are aware of them or not. I will work alongside you to bring about awareness and allow space for exploration on how this has effected your life up until this point. By allowing insight into these current behaviours, by not judging them will allow change.

I have experience of working in many areas and all of them resonate around trauma. This is with all of us from early life trauma to everyday trauma that we may not be as aware of. I have been supporting families for 18 years with traumatic events from eating disorders, OCD & self harm, suicide & domestic abuse. The last decade has seen me specialising in the perinatal period supporting families through their pregnancy, birth & beyond. I have also added Doula into my practice & widen my expertise on this sacred time, (see bottom of Training & experience for more information).

I work from Nailsworth where I offer sessions in person, over Zoom or walking through the nearby woods and on Minchinhampton common. I am a qualified counsellor in therapeutic counselling and a member of the BACP and NCS.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Areas of counselling I deal with

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I've been specialising in perinatal health for the last decade. Although I work deeply with families during this child bearing year my introduction with them often begins from conception & to beyond the first 40 days of postpartum.

As I have added the scope of, Doula, to my services my knowledge of the importance of somatic process to support both Mother & baby through TRE, pregnancy massage & The Closing of the Bones Ceremony has added to my practice. All supported by my learnings with traditional Mexican midwife, Naoli Vinaver, experienced birth keeper & trainer, Alex Burner of the Original Birth Connection & many more wise women.

I have a decade of experience supporting families through the perinatal period. With an interest in conscious conception, baby loss & perinatal trauma. This time is pivotal for the whole family, Mother & baby & I have seen the positive impact of having a third party hold the family through this time.
