About me

Hi I’m Georgia. Whoever you are, whatever your story may be, I would like to extend a warm welcome to my page!

How I can help you

I offer a compassionate, friendly and affirmative space for people of all backgrounds. I help people to feel more at ease and able to live the life that they want to in a way that is authentic to them. I assist people in dealing with the challenges that life brings and to support them in making the changes that they would like to, with an attitude of curiosity and compassion. I do this by combining practical psychological tools with a highly empathetic approach.

I take an embodied, somatic approach to therapy. I understand that sometimes it can be painful to be in touch with the body, so I take a gentle approach to help you become curious about your embodied experience, resulting in a deeper level of acceptance. I believe that mental health is about cultivating the positive in your life, as well as looking at the more difficult experiences. Therefore I take a holistic approach, working relationally with you as a whole person to understand what changes you would like to make, and the patterns that may be keeping you stuck.

The therapy space can also be used to make sense of past experiences and to identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck. I offer a spacious and gentle way of doing this. I know that starting therapy can be daunting, so I will do my best to ease you into the process, collaborating with you to find our own way of working.

My particular areas of interest are:
- LGBTQ+ affirmative counselling
- Chronic pain/chronic illness
- Anxiety/OCD

A bit about me

As an integrative practitioner, I believe that there is no “one size fits all” for counselling, meaning that I draw on different approaches depending on the individual I am working with. This means that I will tailor my approach depending on your needs. All my work is rooted in mindfulness.

I am passionate about creating a therapeutic space that feels safe and celebratory for each and every client. I am committed to anti-racist practice and continually challenging my own cultural privilege is a priority.

I view professional development as a very important part of my work and therefore take regular training sessions to broaden my knowledge. On top of this, I am an avid reader, and enjoy keeping up to date with latest research. My personal life reflects my counselling approach whereby mindfulness, balance and values based living is my priority.

Will this be a good fit for you?

Get in touch for a free non obligation phone call where we can talk more about what you’re looking for, my practice, and whether we are a good fit.
I offer both long and short term work online and in south Birmingham.
I look forward to being a part of your journey!

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
