About me

Hello.  Have you had experience of therapy before which was partly helpful, but you find you're still looking for answers?  Are you interested in an approach which goes beyond traditional talking therapy?  Are you interested in the body-mind connection?

If so, I offer an approach which brings the body into the conversation between us.  For example, in between our dialogue, I will invite you to use embodied interventions e.g. I will tap on me and and invite you to tap on you; or I will hold certain memory centres on my body, and invite you to hold those same points on your own body.  Or, I might use positive affirmations and ask you to repeat them out loud, or internally to yourself.  All of this will be done within a recognisable psychotherapeutic frame, drawing on the best of traditional psychotherapy, alongside emerging insights from neurobiology, attachment theory, and trauma-informed therapy.

Whatever you're struggling with right now, I invite you to have a free, no- obligation phone call to explore your situation further. You can be confident that I have many years' experience of working with a wide range of issues including: anxiety, depression, trauma, dissociative disorders, and illness, including illness not responding to medical interventions.  However, I will also treat you as an individual, and help you explore how your struggles and symptoms affect you.  Together we will find a way forward where you hold the agency for potential and change.

In terms of practicalities, I work Monday - Wednesday online, and in-person in Central London on a Thursday (SE1, near Waterloo station and Lambeth North tube station).  Hybrid models of therapy: some sessions in-person, some online, are possible.

My practice

I am trauma-informed, disability friendly, and LGBTQI+ affirming.  I trained in  integrative counselling / psychotherapy at the Minster Centre, London, and draw on psychodynamic, humanistic, and relational approaches.  More recently, I have trained in a number of specific trauma therapy techniques, including approaches which fit under the umbrella terms: Energy Psychotherapy and Energy Psychology.  I am also a practitioner of Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) and Advanced Integrative Therapy (AIT); and as far as I know, I am the only therapist in the country integrating these two approaches.  Please know my intention is always for your health, healing, and wholeness.  You are very welcome to get in touch with me to find out more.

Training, qualifications & experience

Diploma in Integrative Counselling (The Minster Centre, London)

Certificate in Energy Psychotherapy: energy psychology for psychotherapists and other mental health professionals (Converging Streams, London), 2013-2014

Certified Advanced Integrative Therapy (AIT) Practitioner, 2017

Certified Deep Brain Orienting (DBR) practitioner, 2021

Experience

Whilst training as a therapist I worked for mental health charities and in drug and alcohol recovery settings. I now work in private practice with a broad range of general adult presentations: anxiety, depression, trauma and health problems, including health problems not responding to medical interventions.  Additionally, I am an associate therapist for Making EMDR and Energy Therapies more accessible in Oxford (MEET); and The Flame Centre, London.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
