About me

I am a registered counsellor who specialises in bereavement, loss and re-identication, and have worked with bereaved adults, children, young people and families since 2013 across Dorset. I have been lucky enough to work for two bereavement charities (Dorset Cruse and Mosaic who support bereaved families)

Overwhelming feelings of grief and loss can emerge after a death, divorce, redundancy, mid life, or when we are feeling misunderstood or lost in many aspects of our life. I believe that psychological therapeutic creative interventions can help us to safely explore feelings and thoughts in the counselling sessions and it is important for this to happen at a pace which suits you.

At the very heart of my counselling style is self-care, as I believe that counselling is a process which can occur as much in between sessions as in the sessions.

As well as my 1 to 1 therapy work,  I am available to run workshops for local businesses and schools covering issues of self care, anxiety and anger management, low self esteem, grief and loss. One of my workshops which has proven to be really popular with clients are the Self-Care Stomps, which take place in Thorncombe Woods in Dorset and were supported by Stepping into Nature.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have been a registered BACP member since 2017 after completing an Advanced Integrative Counselling diploma and Counselling Certificate with the Iron mill College in Poole and I became an accredited BACP member in 2021. In addition to my counselling qualifications, I have a life coaching diploma, and I am a certified Forest therapist. I also have a BSc psychology degree and I attend regular CPDs. I enjoy integrating my counselling skills and training and life skills to support individuals who are experiencing a tough life transition.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
