About me

I imagine that you have arrived on my page as you aren't living the life you imagined and want something to change and / or additional support. Although I cannot take away any fears you might have about starting therapy I do hope that together we can understand these and develop a therapeutic relationship from which you grow and develop.

I work as a Relational Integrative Psychotherapist which means I use a range of techniques and perspectives to understand your difficulties and help you move towards your goals. This might include but is not limited to psychodynamic approaches, attachment and more modern perspective on existence. I have a wide range of trainings having first qualified as a Registered Mental Nurse before undertaking further training in the NHS in a range of cognitive therapies.

Psychotherapy is often described as a therapy that addresses the underlying root cause, allowing change and personal growth to occur. It is particularly helpful for focusing on recurrent problems and patterns of thought / behaviour.

I am also an accredited DBT therapist and supervisor with the Society for DBT and can work with individuals for DBT therapy providing either a full DBT programme (1:1, skills training group and telephone coaching) or informed 1:1 sessions. DBT is considered the gold standard treatment for those who experience intense emotions and may self-harm or attempt suicide alongside other self-destructive behaviours. The skills component focuses around four main modules; Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Interpersonal Effectiveness and Emotion Regulation.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have over 10 years clinical experience working in mental health across both the NHS and private sectors, I continue to work in the NHS within a specialist Complex Emotional Needs and Personality Disorder Service providing DBT, MBT and psychotherapy.

  • MSc Integrative Psychotherapy (Metanoia Institute)
  • Pgdip Psychotherapy (Metanoia Institute)
  • Pgdip Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (Bangor University)
  • BSc Nursing - Mental Health (Kingston University)

Other training:

  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Intensive training - British Isles DBT
  • Cognitive behaviour therapy (SWLSTG)
  • Mentalization Based therapy (Anna Frend - UCL)

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
