About me

I am a psychotherapist with vast experience in helping the people I work with to adjust to major life changes. Also supporting people to manage substance misuse. I have the knowledge to provide the tools needed to overcome or reduce substance use-using exploration, psychosocial and cognitive behavioural techniques. I also have experience and knowledge in supporting people with health anxiety and generalised anxiety, low mood and depression, trauma, acceptance, self-esteem and confidence building.

I am a therapist who from my personal, educational and professional experience can apply psychological knowledge from various approaches to ensure you receive support that is tailored to your needs. I offer a safe space to explore your experiences and what this means for you specifically, supporting you to reach your personal goals.

We all struggle from time to time, usually because of something that has happened to us and/or actions we have taken. We all also deserve a safe space to explore our experiences without judgement, to feel heard. I can provide that safe space, for you, to explore, process and move towards the best version of yourself!

Training, qualifications & experience

I am trained as a person-centred counsellor, with experience of working with, adjustments to major life changes, gaining most of this experience working in a NHS environment with clients adjusting to amputation, a role I continue to do.

I have worked with people struggling with substance use and addictions to various outlets. Including but not limited to gambling and sex addiction.

Helping people to manage low mood and anxiety has been a part of the experience mentioned above, I also have experience in working with just these emotions.

I am also a qualified psychologist, meaning that I can draw upon many approaches to help tailor your support to your needs.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
