About me

There are many reasons for seeking therapy. You may need a safe space to work through a specific problem or sudden change in your personal life or in a significant relationship. Or you may be concerned with difficult dynamics or destructive patterns and their impact upon your personal well-being and perhaps upon the quality of your relationships.

Each individual and couple is, of course, unique and so is the purpose of each therapy. I can help you address a wide range of issues that may affect how you experience and manage life's challenges and opportunities, in yourself and in your relationships. To this end, I recommend one or more initial consultations for us to discuss together your particular concerns and the kind of support you may need at this time.

I am a qualified and experienced couple and individual psychotherapist. I completed my specialist training at Tavistock Relationships, a unit of the Tavistock Institute of Medical Psychology, where I work as a Visiting Clinician. I am also an experienced online therapist, having trained and continued to work at Tavistock Relationships Online Service.

I offer counselling and psychotherapy for couples, individual partners and singles, including online, and I welcome diversity in my practice.

I can work with you on an open-ended, long-term basis, but I can also undertake time-limited work where appropriate.

In my private practice, I see clients in the City and in Mayfair. In these uncertain times, I have also expanded my online clinical practice and I welcome new enquiries. You can contact me by email or telephone me for more details or to arrange an initial consultation.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained at the Tavistock Relationships, a unit of the Tavistock Institute of Medical Psychology and an internationally recognised centre for counselling and psychotherapy, training and research.

I have completed an MA in Psychoanalytic Couple Psychotherapy and I have a Post-Graduate Diploma in Individual and Couple Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy (Tavistock Relationships/UEL). I also hold a PhD from Cornell University (1998).

I have also completed a bespoke online therapy training at Tavistock Relationships.

I am a Visiting Clinician at Tavistock Relationships where I work as a Senior Therapist in the General Counselling and Psychotherapy Service and in the Online Therapy Service. I am also a member of its dedicated Parenting Consultation Service Team, which provides specialist support for individuals and couples seeking a confidential space to make sense of the challenges that caring for children can present to maintaining satisfying adult relationships.

I am a Member of the Tavistock Institute of Medical Psychology, a Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust Alumni, and a Supporting Member of the International Psychotherapy Institute (U.S.A.).

I am a registered member of the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and I adhere to their professional code and ethical guidelines.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Key details

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

Mayfair premises have wheelchair access.
