About me

Life can be a struggle for us all sometimes. Talking things through with a counsellor helps to explore difficult thoughts, feelings and experiences. You can learn to deal with your feelings more easily and to see things differently, so they become less all-consuming, less upsetting, and less scary.

Counselling is not about giving advice - I won’t tell you what to do - but together we will find a way forward, so you see things differently, feel calmer and life a more fulfilled life.

I have over 20 years' experience of working with people who are struggling with difficult situations, and help them to see things differently, feel calmer and life a more fulfilled life. I trained in faith-based, integrative approaches to counselling, so I draw on different types of therapy to tailor my approach specifically for you. I have experience working with clients who follow different faiths and none at all: my training equips me to meet you where you are in your journey without the need to explain or justify anything. I welcome clients from the LGBTQ+ community. I run a fully inclusive practice and don't value any gender or sexual identity above another.

We might work together if…

  • you’re struggling with life
  • you have difficult relationships with family, friends, or others
  • you’re suffering from stress or anxiety
  • you’re struggling with feelings of anger or sadness
  • you're in a difficult situation that you can't change
  • you're coming to terms with a long-term health issue

I work mostly via online video-call or by 'phone, and have some capacity for face to face appointments. I can offer a range of times to suit you, including some early evenings. Please contact me if you would like to arrange a free, no-obligation conversation.  I have  a dedicated confidential answerphone, please leave a message and I'll call you back within 24 hours.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified counsellor with an MA in Counselling (awarded by Middlesex University).

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the Association of Christian Counsellors.

I undertake regular additional training to keep my skills up to date and continue my learning.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

ACC
Association for Christian Counsellors (ACC)

The Association of Christian Counsellors and Linked Professions is a professional body representing and setting standards for Christian counselling and care in the UK. The organisation is made up of various different membership categories, including Counsellor and Accredited, and requires all members working as counsellors to undertake Continuous Professional Development on a regular basis.
