About me

Looking for a counsellor takes courage and that’s a positive thing. It shows you’re ready for your future being different to your past, you’re ready for uplevelling your life skills, and you’re ready to figure out some change – in whatever small or large way that would be helpful for you for now.

I am a person-centred psychotherapist ready to support you in that change, and happy to work with you face to face or online, and at whatever pace works best for you.

I specialise in working with anxiety and stress and bereavement.  If you are experiencing depression or coping with self-esteem challenges then please contact me.  I am a qualified 'Rewind' practitioner which is a highly successful practise with trauma and PTSD.  I also specialise in couples counselling and if you want relationship changes, again your first step is to email me.

I could tell you that I am warm and personable and could list all the variety of clients that I have worked with as well as my wide experience in schools, education and with families (my own as well as other people’s). More important than that though is for me to understand your story, your situation, your plans and vision for the week, month and year.  You are an individual and your situation is also totally unique.

To get us started, I offer a 15 minute (no charge) initial consultation- online on Teams or Zoom or by phone if you’d prefer. This is an informal chat so that I can better understand what you’d like to see as an outcome of us working together. I can also then answer any questions you might still have.

The sessions themselves: I’m happy to work with you in person if you’re happy to travel to my office in Lincoln, however, most clients today prefer the convenience of online sessions. This also means you can work with me wherever you are in the UK or even worldwide.

The therapy I use is of a style where most clients experience change quickly, enabling new thoughts, decisions and actions to happen in just a few sessions. This allows them to move forward with life as speedily as possible and without spending months and a large amount of money in therapy.

Working together towards the outcomes you want is what I do.  With positive solutions and strategies that build your clear thinking and confidence for change, you will quickly move forwards to live a happier and more fulfilling life.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

Feedback from some previous clients:

  • 'Beth’s warmth and genuine concern provided a safe and comfortable environment in which to explore difficult life events, gaining a deeper understanding of their impact on myself and my relationships with others.' (J, Lincoln)
  • 'I have had lots of different interventions (counselling, CBT) before, and none have seemed to work. The sessions I had with Beth have been fairly life changing. I cannot say thank you enough. She is kind, understanding, compassionate and extremely good at what she does.   I feel that she has given me the tools to look after myself better and to care for myself and most importantly be kind to myself, which is something I have always struggled to do. Consequently, my self-esteem is much better, and my relationships with family and friends have improved.  Thanks once again.' (H, Lecturer)
