About me

Feel more confident and learn to communicate more clearly and openly by having therapy with me David

Are you seeking therapy because you want to make your life better? Does it feel like life has always been and uphill battle for you and never felt easy. Anxiety and fear seem to be constant companions that you live with. Maybe you work offshore, a traditionally male environment where feelings and emotions are a sign of weakness and could harm your career.  Perhaps your relationships have always been difficult, you struggle to express your feelings and have your voice heard and you don't understand why. Or maybe you have never felt good enough in relationships, either intimately or with family, and perhaps this spills over into your professional and work life too. Or perhaps the trauma that you experienced growing up has left you unable to trust people and what they say. You have tried to find your answers but have not been successful. You feel stuck and overwhelmed.

Over many years I have seen my clients take control of their lives both in their relationships and work. They notice feeling happier, calmer with more direction and purpose. You too can help heal your pain and improve your self esteem so that you can build a positive and fulfilling life, and I can help you achieve this. Heal your past hurts and learn to communicate better in your relationships, feel joy again and feel optimistic about your future. Together in therapy we can work towards creating the life that you have always wanted.

By working weekly together we will explore your current situation, the resistances, blocks and hurdles and find the necessary tools and techniques that you can use to support you in whatever area of your life is important and relevant to you. We will then evaluate, refine and update these ideas with the feedback you bring to your sessions. This will allow you to learn new behaviours and ways to relate.

If you would like to find out how I can support you to achieve your goals and lead a more fulfilling life then please click on the link and send me an email. You can also call or text. I offer a free 15 minute discovery call to answer your queries and explore how I can support you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I qualified in Integrative Psychosynthesis Counselling in 2008 at Re-vision College, London. A UKCP and BACP accredited institution. I started working with clients in 2005 during my training and I have had a private practice working with couples and individuals since 2008. I bring vast life experience and comprehensive and ongoing academic study and CPD to my work. My clients come from a diverse range of backgrounds and life experiences and my specialisms are working with men and couples.

Alongside my private practice I have worked within the Health and Voluntary sector for and with charities and local authorities that supported homeless young adults, addicts, ex offenders, and carers. My roles included Support Worker, Team Lead, Trainer, and Service Manager. Prior to training as a therapist I had successful careers in retail and the construction industry as a multi trade and business owner.

I have practiced meditation, mindfulness, and yoga for over 30 years. I have co facilitated the 8 week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) programme. Over the past 3 years I have started to learn and practice somatic movement. I have written and delivered training programmes to charities and local authorities on diverse subjects such as Compassion Fatigue, and the Use of Imagination in Therapy. All this knowledge and experience supports me in our work together.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
