About me

I am a qualified integrative counsellor who provides a warm, empathic and supportive space where you are enabled to explore your feelings and talk about the things that worry you in a confidential setting. I work to help relieve the anxieties that you might face, drawing on your inner resources and helping you build resilience or move towards better relationships.

I see therapy as a space to discover what has happened to you, rather than what is wrong with you - I will listen to your story, notice where you are stuck, and support you to find your own answers to move forward. A common misconception about therapy is that counsellors advise how you should move through life. Whilst therapy does not provide simple answers, or offer advice, it can help to shed light onto unconscious patterns of behaviour which may often lie unnoticed and create a space to reflect and cultivate a level of acceptance and self-compassion.

In my practice, I use an integrative approach to counselling, which combines various aspects of different therapeutic models according to the individual needs of my clients. I work in a person-centred way to help you understand your feelings and help you find a way of coping with their issues to work towards positive changes in your life. I may also use a Psychodynamic approach which may provide further insight into your personal history and help you gain awareness on how past experiences affect current thoughts and behaviours.

After attaining my BSc in Psychology, I worked in digital retail for 8 years as well as working as an Employment Advisor for a mental health charity providing support for adults suffering with mental health needs acquire work or retain their employment. From my experiences, I am able to understand the pressures that people can be exposed to in the workplace as well as the impact that life transitions can have which can lead to unhealthy coping strategies. My previous roles have enabled me to work closely with people from different religions, cultures and backgrounds as well demonstrating a strong ability to form relationships characterised by the core conditions of empathy, acceptance and genuineness.

As a personal advocate for the benefits of talking therapies and the profound impact they can have at the most difficult points in one’s life, I completed further training and qualified in integrative therapeutic counselling in 2022. From this, I am able to bring experiences from previous occupations and my academic qualifications to add value to those seeking to invest in their own mental health.

If you would like to get in touch, contact me via phone or email where you can arrange to have a brief chat about what’s going on for you right now and what you would like to get out from therapy.

We will then arrange to meet for an initial session and see how that feels - there is no obligation to book further sessions. If we decide to begin working together, we will see each other once a week at a mutually convenient time over an agreed period of time or an open ended process.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
