About me

Hi, my name is Clare. I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor which means that I am able to tailor our work together to find a way of working which best suits your needs. I believe that together we will be able to explore your past and present life experiences to help in gaining self-awareness.

Our initial counselling session will be an assessment session where we will explore what you would like to get out of therapy and it is also an opportunity for you to see how we will work together. I feel it is important that you find the right therapist that works for you.

I understand that it might be difficult to take your first step into counselling and I will work with you to support you through the process.

I work face-to-face out of private and confidential clinics in Sanderstead and Croydon,  I also offer online appointments.

About therapy:

Each session will last for 50 minutes. These sessions will usually be weekly and can be on a long or short-term basis depending on your requirements and needs and what difficulties you are facing.

I offer a brief free introductory call of 15 minutes where I can answer any questions you may have and can discuss availability.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) with a first class BA Honours degree in Integrative Relational Counselling. This means that I am able to work with you combining different theoretical approaches that best suit our work together.

I have previously worked for the NHS with adults and young adults from diverse cultures and backgrounds. I have also worked for a bereavement charity.

My expertise includes work with bereavement and loss including child loss, loss to suicide, miscarriage and infertility. As well as working with low mood, depression, anxiety, self-harm, sleep disturbance, suicidal thoughts, perfectionism, parenting issues and health issues.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
