About me
Hello, I'm Claire,
I am an integrative counsellor offering 1:1 support via telephone, zoom or face to face appointments in my therapy room.
I have experience working with -
- Trauma
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Relationship issues
- Bullying
- Low mood
- Discrimination
- Loneliness
- Suicide within a family
- Stress-related issues
- Pet Bereavement
I have worked for the past 5 years with visually impaired clients, helping them to adjust or learn to live with their sight loss emotionally. Please see below for more information about this.
The next step
It can feel quite daunting making the decision to see a counsellor. I provide an initial free 50 minute in-take session for you to discuss your issues and any concerns you may have about your counselling journey. This in-take meeting will give the opportunity for both myself the counsellor and you the client, time to explore what you want from this process, then you can make the decision if I am the right counsellor for you. Being genuine from the beginning and exploring the counsellor/client relationship will help to build a rapport, enabling the therapeutic relationship to work more successfully.
You can call me on 07983799140 or send me an email here if you have any questions or would like to set up a session.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a counselling diploma with AIM awards and NCS (national counselling society). I'm a MBACP (registered member of BACP governing body). I abide and work alongside the ethical framework set out by BACP. I work with adults only (18+) and I also provide couple counselling.
I am an integrative counsellor which means I work using CBT, Humanistic and Psychodynamic approach, catering the way I work to the need of the client. I provide short term (6 weeks) and long term(12+ weeks) counselling sessions.
I am a qualified bereavement counsellor, I trained with Cruse bereavement in 2010.
Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
Emotional support
Supporting those with disabilities or physical challenges
I myself am visually impaired so I have an understanding about disabilities beyond any training or workshop. Even though I know it's not my stuff, I can empathise and have a total understanding of the personal and emotional struggles disabled people may have, on a daily basis. Within this capacity, I have also done couples counselling.
This will include working with:
- Bereavement
- Loss
- Grief
- Trauma
- Workplace grievances etc
My therapy room is fully wheelchair accessible, do let me know if you have any questions around this.
