About me

Are you a mum of young children and feeling low, lost or not like yourself? Maybe you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious or angry? You're in the right place if you're ready for things to change.

I'm Claire, I specialise in postnatal counselling, offering online and in person sessions.

If you're in the early years of motherhood, counselling with me will give you a space to reconnect with yourself, to empower yourself as you progress in your motherhood journey and equip yourself with strategies along the way.

Whether you think you may have postnatal depression or anxiety, have been diagnosed or you're generally tired of being on a treadmill of feeding, bathing and bedtime, with no time to yourself, we will work together to find your way forward. I offer you a space where you can vent, be open and honest about how you're finding motherhood with no fear of judgement.

I sit with you as a professional but also as a mum of young children who knows the depths that you can sink to and the guilt around not 'enjoying every moment'.

Motherhood is a huge adjustment, and one we're led to believe we should be naturals at. The reality is that it's hard and a range of different circumstances can make it even harder. So often we try to just get on with it, try to accept that this is just how it has to be and that is exhausting.

This isn't how it has to be. Through counselling with me you can explore your experiences, your thoughts and feelings and work towards a different future, one where you feel like you as well as the mum you are.

As an integrative counsellor (which means I use a range of theoretical approaches) I tailor our sessions to you and what you need. I want you to feel seen and heard and this is why we will start with where you are now, explore what you're experiencing and go from there.

It's not about fixing you, you are not broken, your mind is responding in a natural way to the events and information it has.

Get in touch

I know it can feel daunting when contacting a counsellor, so I invite you to book a free 15 minute session to get a feel for me, and make sure I'm the right person for you to connect with. You can do this through the online booking form on my website or simply send me an email through this page. I currently have sessions available during the day on Tuesdays.

You can also take a look at my website ( where I have more information, free guides and blogs that you might find useful. Or look me up on instagram (@thepostnatalcounsellor).

I'm here when you're ready.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
