About me

Sometimes we can feel low, angry, anxious, tearful and we need some professional support to help us develop a clear perspective and a way through to coping once more.  One client I supported said: "Seeing Catherine was without a doubt, one of the best things I've done in my life. Her calm bespoke guidance & wisdom has helped me feel human and made me a better father and husband."

I offer counselling and help with trauma, phobias, anger and addictive behaviours as well as skills, techniques and insights from the very first session which enable you to overcome anxiety, depression and even lifelong habits of low confidence and negative thinking. We will work together to develop strategies which give a focused which session. By deciding upon simple achievable goals in each session, you will be able to notice a significant rapid improvement in your mood in and outlook. My aim is not for you to be "stuck" in counselling forever, but to feel hopeful again and able to look forward to living your life as fully as possible.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained with the Human Givens Institute - the organising ideas around this form of counselling is that all humans are bestowed with resources to get their innate needs met. When those resources are misused, or our internal guidance system is damaged in any way (through excessive stress, trauma, toxic environments or relationships, or difficult upbringings, for example) then we can fall into states of poor mental health. Some may in turn try to get those needs met in unhealthy ways through various types of addiction. I qualified in 2020 as a Graduate Member of the Institute and have helped many clients since then. Prior to this I was a qualified Postnatal Practitioner with the National Childbirth Trust and worked in the community for over 15 years as well as within an NHS Trust for 11 of those years as a Family Support Practitioner with our local hospital's neonatal unit supporting families who have experienced deep stress and trauma upon the hospitalisation, after birth, of their baby/ies.
