About me

**In person appointments available from November 2021 in central Exeter**

I am an Integrative Counsellor who works with individual adult clients on a short and long term basis.

You may be finding yourself feeling low, worried, anxious, struggling to sleep, snapping at people, finding yourself unable to say ‘no’ to demands being placed upon you by friends or family. Maybe you are not feeling as resilient as you once did or that your life is not as fulfilled as you want it to be. You may be experiencing a lack of confidence or a sense of imposter syndrome.

Counselling can provide you with a space in which you will be listened to without judgment and you can explore your feelings and emotions.  It is a place of safety where the unsayable can be said and you can choose to change your emotional and behavioural patterns that may no longer be useful to you.  It is a place for experimenting with new ways of being and relating to yourself and others.

As an integrative practitioner, I use different theories and techniques to create a therapy solution which is appropriate to you.  I use elements of transactional analysis, person centred therapy, compassion focused therapy and internal family systems therapy.  I work collaboratively with you so that you can be true to yourself.  This is all set within the safety and boundaries of the counselling relationship.

I believe we all have within us the resources we need but sometimes we need a little help to find a different way of being and coping with all that life can throw at us.  You may be wanting to talk to someone but are struggling to find the right time slot and I understand how difficult it can be to fit everything in. I offer daytime sessions in person including before work and over the lunchtime period, as well as evening sessions online via Zoom.

I understand that commencing therapy takes courage and I offer a free 20 minute telephone consultation to see if I am the person you would like to work with. If you would like to explore things further then please do contact me either via telephone or email.

Training, qualifications & experience

I’ve worked with people in an organisation context for over 15 years and 5 years ago commenced my counselling training journey.

I have an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling (BACP Accredited Course) and I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have undertaken additional training to work with clients online and on the telphone.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
