About me

Is your life feeling uncertain, unrecognisable or even unreal? Are you struggling to understand or find meaning in what’s happening to you?  Perhaps you're feeling anxious or depressed, lacking energy and motivation or just not quite feeling like you used to which is having an impact on your day to day life and relationships.

Change, even if positive or longed for, can leave us feeling disoriented and unsure. When this change involves a loss - the death of a loved one, the loss of a relationship, loss of identity or of an imagined future due to illness or change in circumstance, we can feel alone and overwhelmed. Our familiar coping mechanisms no longer seem to work and we can find it difficult to speak to the people around us for fear of upsetting them or being misunderstood.

How I can help

I believe that the collaborative relationship between counsellor and client is fundamental to the counselling process and my aim is to walk alongside you in this unfamiliar landscape. I offer a warm and compassionate space in which we can work together to make sense of these changes. A space for you to talk about your grief, loss and uncertainty, to voice your fears about the future, and to identify and develop the resources that will help you move forward when you are ready.

As an integrative practitioner I draw upon a number of theoretical and relational approaches including attachment theory, humanistic, gestalt and existential. This enables me to work creatively and flexibly, tailoring my approach to the particular needs of each individual.

Next Steps

I understand how daunting finding the right counsellor can be and appreciate the courage it can take to make that first step. Please call or email to arrange a free 15 minute telephone or video consultation during which we can talk a little about what's brought you to counselling and I can explain how I work and answer any questions you may have.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling (BACP Accredited) and I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their ethical framework.

I am also currently studying a diploma in Relational Integrative Psychotherapy at the Scarborough Counselling & Psychotherapy Training Institute and am a trainee member of UKCP.

I attend regular supervision and participate in ongoing CPD as part of my professional development. Recent courses include Compassion Focused Therapy, Infant Loss, Neuroscience, and Online and Telephone Counselling.

Before embarking upon my counselling training I had over 20 years experience of supporting children and their families in all areas of their life including bereavement and life limiting health conditions.

As well as my private practice I also work with an East London bereavement service where I see clients experiencing traumatic loss, including death of a child, multiple bereavement, and sudden or unexpected loss through illness and suicide.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
