About me

Hi, I'm Brie - I work with women and couples who are struggling to know what to do next - usually you have all the answers but that's not how it feels at the moment...

It's been a long time since you felt like you were in control of your life - despite it looking like you are doing 'everything right.' The truth is, you've tried everything and nothing has worked. I know. I've been there too.

You find yourself awake in the night, scrolling on your phone long after you should put it away, keeping busy in order to avoid dealing with how you feel, or hiding away - sure that your friends and family know exactly how much of a fraud you are.

What if I told you, life doesn't have to be this way? You can find new ways to be in the world. You can explore your thoughts and feelings in a space of safety and warmth? Get in touch to find out how.

Women's Health (Hormone and Cycle Informed Counselling)

Regardless of your age, as a woman your needs are particular. I work with women across all the stages of female reproductive health life - from coping with difficult PMS to PMDD, infertility, pregnancy and birth debriefing, through to peri-menopause, and menopause. We tailor the work to fit in with your cycle recognising that hormones are real and understanding how your hormones affect your mood and your physical wellbeing is key to feeling your best.

Pregnancy & Birth Debrief

This is a short term (1-4 sessions) experience where we look at the impact of your birth, pregnancy or postnatal experience. It is a space that is wholly yours and offers you the opportunity to tell your story without interruption. Further details are available on my website about this specific package.

Couples & Relationships

It wasn't always like this - at one time everything seemed possible because of this relationship, but for some reason, things have changed. You no longer feel connected, you desire warmth and fun but mainly it's just hard work and seemingly little reward. By offering yourselves the space to voice your concerns and learn about your needs relationships therapy helps you to meet both your own needs and your partner's. We work in a targeted and specific way to understand the pain points and seek solutions that are tailored to you as a couple.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a PGDip in Integrative Therapeutic Counselling, which is a very long winded way of saying I have trained across multiple modalities and create a bespoke plan of therapy for each individual client, according to their needs.

I have done extensive research on Women's Health and counselling, developing a model I call 'Cycle-Informed Counselling' which draws on the best research in the field.

I also have qualifications in Relationships and Couples therapy.

I work from trauma-informed position, I am committed to the Ethical Code of the BACP and seek to provide counselling in an anti-oppressive and diversity minded way. I am LGBTQ+ and Relationship Diversity affirming.

Alongside my private practice, I work as a tutor for a CPCAB accredited counselling training programme and I am a speaker to industry on topic of mental health and well-being.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

ACC
Association for Christian Counsellors (ACC)

The Association of Christian Counsellors and Linked Professions is a professional body representing and setting standards for Christian counselling and care in the UK. The organisation is made up of various different membership categories, including Counsellor and Accredited, and requires all members working as counsellors to undertake Continuous Professional Development on a regular basis.
