About me

How counselling can help
Maybe you are feeling anxious or depressed or you have experienced traumatic life-events and are looking for a safe and confidential space where you can mentally re-group and begin to thrive rather than just survive. Together we can explore what really matters to you at this time in your life and find new ways of coping with difficult relationships and life-events.

My approach
My approach to counselling is based on the belief that each of us creates a unique way of viewing and interacting with the world that is based on how we internalised past relationships and life-events. These past experiences can continue to influence our thoughts, feelings and actions, even when we are unaware of their influence.

How sessions work
Our first few sessions are an opportunity for us to gently explore what you want to work on in the subsequent sessions and to check that we are best suited to do that work together.

As the sessions progress you might become more aware of how you really feel about yourself and other people and begin to recognise when previous ways of coping with difficult situations and relationships are no longer that helpful. Becoming more self-aware and gaining a new perspective on past and present difficulties can open up the possibility of change and growth.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I practice in accordance with our code of ethics.

I have a current Enhanced DBS certificate.

My training is in contemporary psychodynamic counselling:

  • Postgraduate Certificate in Contemporary Therapeutic Counselling - 2015.
  • University Diploma - 2013.

I have worked in crisis management for a mental health charity that offers face-to-face and telephone support for people experiencing a mental health crisis.

I was a voluntary counsellor for 6 years in East London and for 2 years with an agency in Harlow.

Over the years I have received extensive training and I am committed to continued personal and professional development.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
