About me

Life can be hard, however, there are some times when difficulties and feelings become overwhelming and everything seems like a struggle. Having a capable ally alongside you who is impartial, warm and honest can be what’s needed to recognise and shift out of unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour. Living in this world can't always be safe but I believe we are meant to feel safe in our bodies and our sense of who we are. Rather than 'fixing' problems, focusing on being 'better' or even happier, we can develop our sense of security, wholeness and worth, increasing our ability to navigate life's challenges.

I help clients with self esteem issues, emotional overwhelm, shame, codependency and addiction. We get hurt in relationships and we heal in relationships. Therefore I work in a relational manner where the therapy provides healing, creating a trusting relationship to process emotional experience and develop new resources and skills.

Training, qualifications & experience

As an integrative counsellor I am informed by different schools of psychotherapy theory and psychology. I see real value in applying mindfulness techniques to gain awareness of thoughts and feelings, to develop our ability to cope in the present. I have extensive clinical experience in addiction treatment, acute mental health, trauma and emotional neglect. I have extensive experience in counselling adolescents and adults struggling with substance and behaviour addiction and poor mental health. I have additional training in compassionate enquiry and four years experience in group psychotherapy and family therapy.
